Finance

Money held, owed and committed, in one set of books: invoices and quotes, bills and purchase orders, expense claims, bank statements, reconciliation and reports.

Updated 24 September 2026

Finance is your organization's books and money in one place: what you hold, what you are owed, what you owe and what you have committed, kept in double-entry accounts underneath. Invoices, quotes, bills, purchase orders, expense claims, bank statements and reports all post to the same ledger.

How Finance is organized#

PillWhat it leads with
OverviewMoney held now, expected in, committed and expected out, a 30-day projection, what needs attention
MoneyEvery movement across every account; statement import; categorization rules
ReceivablesWho owes what and how late — invoices, quotes, recurring invoices, customers, payments received
PayablesWhat you owe and when — bills, purchase orders, vendors, payments made
ExpensesThe claims queue: submitted, approved, reimbursed
AccountsWhere money is held, each account against its ledger balance; reconciliation
ReportsProfit and loss, balance sheet, aging, budgets — and the Books beneath them
SettingsDocuments, numbering, tax, payment accounts, invoice email, expense claims

Every record — an invoice, a bill, an order, a claim — opens as its own page with a Connections panel showing the customer, deal, project or order it is linked to.

Money words never change#

Finance is deliberately the most rigid module. In a clinic, an agency or a hotel, invoice, bill, receivable and profit and loss mean exactly the same thing, so Finance's words, statuses and reports never change with the workspace's industry. Only its name in the sidebar may (a real-estate workspace may call it Commissions), and the people you bill carry CRM's word for them — a clinic's receivables speak of what patients owe.

How money flows through Unobits#

From work to reconciled cash
  1. Quoteoffered to a CRM contact, often from an opportunity
  2. Invoicedrafted from the accepted quote, or created directly
  3. Sendposted to the books and emailed with a PDF and a pay link
  4. Paymenttaken online through your Stripe or Paystack account, or recorded by hand
  5. Bank statementimported; each line is matched to the payment that explains it
  6. Reconciledthe account agrees with the bank to the cent, and the lines are locked

And on the spending side: purchase order → goods received (stock moves in Inventory) → draft bill raised → bill approved → payment → matched to the statement.

What Finance connects to#

Where Finance meets other modules
Finance
  • CRMcustomers are CRM contacts; quotes are created from opportunities; a record shows invoiced, paid and owed
  • Inventorypurchase orders are shared; receiving goods moves stock and raises a draft bill
  • Projectsbills, hours and stock booked to a project give its job cost
  • Portalsclients can see the statements you issue to them
  • Emailinvoices go out from your organization's invoice mailbox, and replies land in Email
  • Automationspayments received, failed and refunded, and every step of an expense claim, can start automations
