Set up your workspace

Use Setup and the setup wizard to tailor modules, vocabulary and readiness — and change any of it later without touching your data.

Updated 24 September 2026

After you create a workspace, three things shape how it fits your business: the answers you gave during onboarding, the Setup page that checks what is ready, and your settings for modules and vocabulary. All of them can be changed later, and none of them touch your data.

The Setup page#

Open Home → Setup (the third pill under Home, at /setup). It is a readiness check for the whole workspace, grouped into ten areas. Each card shows a status and opens the place where that area is configured.

Each area reads Ready, Needs review, Not set up or Not verified. The top of the page summarizes overall workspace health and lists Donna's recommendations — the areas that are missing or need attention, most important first.

  • Verify everything re-runs every check.
  • Export config downloads the current results as JSON, useful when you are working with support.

Re-run the setup questions#

The three onboarding questions — what the business does, what to set up first, how big the team is — decide the workspace profile: which modules lead, what things are called and which fields appear.

To answer them again, open Settings → Workspace → Setup wizard and choose Run wizard. Only the workspace Owner's answers set the default for everyone; anyone else who runs it changes only their own view.

Choose your modules (add-ons)#

Your sidebar shows the modules your business type leads with plus a set every workspace has — Home, Inbox, Chat, Email, Socials, Projects, Whiteboards, Calendar, Office, Files, Web Elements, Integrations and Help. Other modules are add-ons.

To add or remove one, open Settings → Workspace → Add-ons → Manage add-ons. Add-ons are a personal choice: they change what your sidebar shows.

Rename things (workspace vocabulary)#

The words your workspace uses come from its profile. If your team says “Jobs” where the profile says “Projects”, the Owner can change it:

  1. Open Settings → Workspace → Workspace vocabulary.

  2. Type the word your team uses beside each area. Leave a field blank to keep the default for your industry.

  3. Choose Save vocabulary. The change applies straight away for everyone.

Reset to defaults returns every label to the industry default. Renaming changes wording only: URLs, links, permissions, automations and data are untouched. Only the Owner can save vocabulary; everyone else sees the fields read-only.

Some areas bend further than others — see what may change and what never does.

Other workspace preferences#

Under Settings → Workspace → Starting up you can set, for yourself:

  • Default start page — which module opens when you sign in.
  • Auto-collapse the sidebar on narrow windows.
  • Focus mode — hide navigation while you edit.
  • Advanced sidebar — every module in one tree instead of the short list.
