Project conversation and team

The project conversation — internal or shared with the client — the member roles on a project, and how updates reach chat and notifications.

Updated 24 September 2026

Every project has its own conversation and its own team. Keeping the conversation on the project means the whole team sees the same thread, and it stays with the work after the project ends.

The project conversation#

Open a project's Chat tab. Anything said here stays with this project, so the whole team sees the same thread.

Each message can go to one of two audiences — choose who can read this message:

AudienceWho reads it
Internal onlyYour team. Your team can read this. The client cannot.
Shared with clientYour team and the client's people who have access to the project. The client can read this.

When sending, you can choose to notify the team so the message reaches them as a notification, not only in the thread.

Project conversations also appear in Chat, where they sit alongside direct messages and groups.

The project team#

A project's members are listed in its Settings. Each member has a role on the project:

Project roleCan
OwnerEverything, including removing the project
AdminManage members and settings
MemberWork on the project

Add a member by picking someone from the organization; change a role or remove someone from the same place. Groups can be added when the project is created, bringing in everyone in the group.

Keep the team informed#

In the project's Settings → Communication:

  • Post updates to chat — project changes are posted into the conversation.
  • Post file shares to chat — announce new file uploads in the conversation.

And under Access & visibility, Notify on changes sends notifications when the project changes.

Workload#

Projects → People shows each teammate's active load — open work across projects — and marks people as available, carrying a heavy load, or overloaded, with the team's average. Use it before assigning a new project. It needs people in the organization: invite them first if it is empty.

Clients on a project#

Clients reach a project through a portal, not through the Unobits app. What they can see — shared project plans, client-visible messages — is covered in Client portals.
