Donna, the Unobits assistant

What Donna can do: her five modes

Assistance, Tool, Research, Planning and Code — what each is for, what you get back, and how far Donna may go in each without asking.

Updated 2 November 2026

Donna’s modes are not personalities. Each is an agreement about how far she may go without asking and what you get back. Assistance is always on; the other four are switched on one at a time, and Donna asks before she switches.

Assistance reads, it does not write#

In Assistance Donna can read anything you can open — deals, invoices, tasks, files, email, calendar, website health — and answer with the records she used. When a request needs another mode, she shows a Yes / No card asking to switch, and waits. She never switches on her own.

Since an itemised approval card is more specific than a mode switch, Donna can also propose a list of changes straight from Assistance; nothing runs until you approve it. See Actions and approvals.

Only one specialised mode at a time#

Tool, Research, Planning and Code are mutually exclusive. Turning one on turns the others off.
