Troubleshooting
Notification problems
Not getting notified, getting notified too much, sounds not playing, or native desktop notifications not appearing.
On this page
Every module notifies you through one notifier, so most problems are fixed in one place: Settings → Notifications & sounds.
I am not getting notified#
| Check | Where |
|---|---|
| The kind of notification is turned on — mentions, direct messages, calls, tasks and reminders | Settings → Notifications & sounds → Alerts |
| Quiet hours are not on | Settings → Notifications & sounds → Quiet |
| Your status is not Do not disturb, or Busy with “mute while Busy” on | Your status, and Quiet |
| “Mute notifications during calls” is not catching you | Quiet |
Desktop notifications do not appear#
Turn on native desktop notifications under Alerts, then allow notifications for Unobits when your browser or computer asks. If you dismissed that question, allow notifications in your browser’s site settings or your operating system’s notification settings.
No sound#
Check the notification and ring volume and tones under Sounds, and whether messages, mentions and system events are set to play one. Browsers only play sound after you have interacted with the page at least once.
Too many notifications#
- Notifications of the same kind are stacked into one entry.
- Set quiet hours, or mute while Busy.
- In the Inbox and Triage, mute senders who are noise.
Something failed and I was notified during quiet hours#
That is intended. Failures — a message that did not send, a payment that failed — always get through so a problem is never hidden.
