Portals
Portal access and share links
Grants are person × module × action and can never exceed your own permission; share links let someone in without an account, with password, email code, limits and expiry.
On this page
Access in a portal is given person by person and module by module, and it can never be wider than the access of the person giving it. Share links let someone in without an account at all.
Grants#
A grant is this person, in this module, may do this: view, send a message, upload, download, complete a task, approve. Downloads and uploads can have a limit on how many times they are used.
You cannot give more than you have. If you cannot see Finance, you cannot give a client access to invoices — the console refuses the grant when you save, and says why.
Every request is checked against the current grants, so removing a grant takes effect on the person’s next action.
Share links#
In Links, Create link gives someone access without an account:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Label | What the link is for — for your team only |
| Uses | How many times it can be used. Empty means unlimited |
| Ask for their email | Ask for an email address before letting them in |
| Password | Require a password |
| Expiry | When the link stops working |
Revoking a link also ends the sessions opened with it.
